Thomas R. Lynch, PhD, FBPsS, is professor emeritus of clinical psychology at the University of Southampton school of psychology. Previously, he was director of the Duke Cognitive-Behavioral Research and Treatment Program at Duke University from 1998-2007. He relocated to Exeter University in the UK in 2007. Lynch’s primary research interests include understanding and developing novel treatments for mood and personality disorders using a translational line of inquiry that combines basic neurobiobehavioral science with the most recent technological advances in intervention research. He is founder of radically open dialectical behavior therapy (RO DBT). Lynch has received numerous awards and special recognitions from organizations such as the National Institutes of Health-US (NIMH, NIDA), Medical Research Council-UK (MRC-EME), and the National Alliance for Research on Schizophrenia and Depression (NARSAD). It provides step by step details, developed from over 20 years of research, as to how clinicians can teach necessary skills to overcontrolled individuals, such as how to forgive themselves and others, be more open minded and flexible, cope with shame, act more spontaneously, be more open in their emotional expression, and more. As an intensively trained RO DBT therapist for over 2 years, I have seen the skills make a significant difference for the clients I see. Highly recommended.

I have been a behavioral health provider for more than 20 years and have experience using several skills training manuals. This is very well written and easy to follow. There are clear instructions on what to teach when and activities that have made our experience with teaching/learning these skills fun. There are novel concepts included in RO DBT that are complicated and I really appreciate the step by step format of this manual.

In a well organized and coherent volume based on years of research and development, Dr. Lynch provides step by step guidance for teaching the RO DBT skills in a class setting. Skills class worksheets and handouts are found in the same chapter as the instructor's lesson plan. Varied methods for learning in a classroom setting are creative and are in and of themselves interventions for problematic overcontrol tendencies. As a clinician trained in this model and co-teaching RO DBT skills classes, I have been very impressed with the effectiveness of these skills, especially for people with significant overcontrol coping style for whom other psychotherapeutic interventions have had limited yield. In my experience to date using this model, participants with even moderate overcontrol tendencies have endorsed great benefit from RO DBT. Highly recommended if you wish to serve populations experiencing disorders of overcontrol.

This book is a companion to Radically Open Dialectical Behavior Therapy: Theory and Practice for Treating Disorders of Overcontrol. That book provides an amazing overview of OC and how to practice RO-DBT, and this manual provides the concrete skills that OC clients will practice in the course of treatment (so you really need both if you are going to use RO-DBT). Disregarding the actual content, the manual is incredibly well put together and easy to follow. I like it a lot better than other manuals I've used before. In terms of the actual skills themselves, the rationale for using each skill is very clear. I am very impressed with this manual.

This skills manual has very easy to follow lesson plans and worksheets. The indication of optional vs required in each of the lessons helps me to manage my time more efficiently when teaching skills classes, while also providing information I can smuggle in if time does not permit me to teach the whole thing. Participating without planning is a game changer!

I love the introduction to this book. It takes a really complex subject matter and makes the understanding of overcontrol accessible to non-psych trained individuals. This is the first Kiyosaki book I have read. I like his writing style and subject matter, but it does seem to repeat itself. I would also say that this takes material from other books, so it is great if you don't want to buy all of his books, but bad if you have already read them. It talks about educating yourself for financial investing in the true sense of investing. He doesn't believe in flipping houses, but buying rental units for the tax advantage and cash flow in good times and bad. Also talks about investing in oil exploration. If you have a couple of million dollars laying around this book might be for you. Or if you are 20-30 years old and want to spend you life in pursuit of seminars and investment opportunities this book might be for you. Otherwise it is a good insight into how the rich and super rich get and stay where they are. Some of his outlooks on life aren't very encouraging either. Like 95% of the dollars value has gone away since we went off the gold standard and the rest will disappear shortly:(

This book is an excellent book for both those that want to continue their financial education with the Rich Dad series of books and also first time readers of Robert Kiyosaki. This book is complete in itself. Robert continues his theme of the dangers of the middle class clinging to their job security, possessions and savings. He believes a financial education and cash flowing assets are what leads to long term financial success. He is also against the majority and believe most people spend their lives as wage slaves of their employers and tax slaves of the government. He advises learning to make a living as a business owner or investor and avoid the rat race and earn a paycheck and spend it on bad debt spiral. Robert points to the many unfair advantages that the rich have over the rest of the population and how he came to posses these advantages. I like this book because he speaks about his real life successes. While some shy away from it because it sometimes seems arrogant, I want real life examples not theories or academic opinions.The unfair advantages:1. True financial knowledge2. Paying taxes as a business owner is much different than paying taxes as an employee.3. Understanding the real nature of financial risk.4. The wealthy get compensated for providing homes, jobs, and products to consumers.The book gives the reader a warning against the old advice to get a good education, work hard, save your money, and buy a house because it is an asset. Robert Kiyosaki turns conventional wisdom on its head.I have been reading his books for over a decade and he was right about your house not being an asset on 1997 the 2008 meltdown proved that to many homeowners. He was right about the coming stock market meltdown he predicted in the book Rich Dad's prophecy in 2002. He was also correct about investing in gold instead of holding cash because of the devaluing U.S. dollar. Readers that followed his advice did very well, I am one of those readers in many areas.I highly recommend all the books from the Rich Dad series. His have really educated me financially over the past 11 years.

The difference between the two? The letter K which stands for Knowledge which is the only thing that stands between the affluent and monkeys! This was a tough listen, I first read RDPD 10 years ago and it had a great impact on me, it got me fired up and most of what he stated has come true regarding the financial crisis and peoples ignorance when it comes to finances and education.Based on the current times I have a renowned interest in the subject of finances and investing and decided to take up Kiyosaki and wanted to see if he had anything new to say, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!Yes, the school system sucks, yes i have to find a way to go from the E and S quadrant over to the B and I quadrant. Ok so I need to learn how to sell, invest in real estate, paper assets and commodities but show me HOW or at least guide me in the direction like your rich dad guided you. Recommend me some books, seminars, or videos or something. I must have heard the term "Financial Education about 500 times in this book it is so repetitive i almost wanted to cry. He explains what he has done, investing in oil wells, insider deals on hotels and apartment buildings and promotes the hell out of his Cashflow 101 board game all the while telling you absolutely nothing on the subjects. He goes on to say that if you want to be a successful investor you must first learn how to be a successful business owner to get insider deals which are considered the best. He also emphasizes on using OPM (Other people's money) to finance investments and get into good debt. But in order to do this you must have a have high financial education, lol. There is absolutely nothing here but a story on what you need to do but not how to do it. Good general information but im disappointed this guy has nothing new to say. There is a difference between educating and story telling and Robert is definitely the latter. Come on Bob, really?

Though much of this book is repeating the Rich Dad philosophy from the first books, there are some newer details added to it along with some excerpts from some of the Rich Dad advisers. If you have the time to read more than one book, I would recommend the first three books to fully grasp the Rich Dad Philosophy. If not, this book should contain enough of it to get a grasp on the basic ideas. Many people can look at this book as a repeat of the same old ideas, but those who read and acted on the book 'Rich Dad's Prophecy' before the stock market crashed will have no problem seeing the value of this book.I first read the original Rich Dad, Poor Dad around 2006. Although I had read many other books on business and investing, that book changed my whole mindset. Since then, I've looked at the whole world differently. While I still read many books on the subjects, I've found the Rich Dad collection to be very education and easy to understand. I've recommended these books to dozens of people over the last few years. I feel that a Rich Dad book is one of the best investments you can make for under $20.

I just finished reading SEO Warrior today. I'm a professional developer (mostly systems engineering in C, python, and java), but I dabble in best-practices web design on my spare time for fun. I picked up a copy of this book as I've heard a lot about "SEO" in the industry, but wasn't sure whether or not it was something real, or just a buzz word.The author of this book, John I. Jerkovic does an excellent job not only detailing exactly how SEO works, but also why it works, what is good, and what is bad. The book starts out by proving certain SEO elements are legitimate, by using some perl program to perform a large amount of searches for popular keywords, then compare HTML elements of the top ranked sites to see what they have in common (keyword density, title element, meta tags, etc.) In my opinion, this alone was worth the money, as it clearly shows by real-world example, that SEO does work, and proves what elements are more important than others.The material covered is very thorough (and at times, a bit too wordy), and will leave you with no questions unanswered. The author covers:- tools to help you test your websites for SEO- how to use google, yahoo, and bing searches to look for competitors- how to use google, yahoo, and bing optimizations elements in your HTML pages to promote "organic SEO"- how to avoid search engine spam- how the nofollow attribute works- how to create a sitemap- how to write a robots.txt file- where to look for relevant information on SEO- how to use advertising to your advantage- how to get money by showing ads on your website- how to find and detect blackhat SEO- how to use social media sites (twitter, facebook, etc.) to establish your brandand a good deal of other topic.The book is a bit thick, coming in at around 400 pages of content, but has quite a few diagrams illustrating google, yahoo, and bing webmaster tools (among other things), which take up ~5 -> 10% of the total pages. It is a very easy read, not very heavy on coding, but also not too high level.I'd recommend this book to anyone who does web design themselves, and is interested in making their pages popular, but doesn't really know anything about SEO. The book teaches you everything you'll need to know, and takes you from nothing to everything in a few days.

Excellent overview of SEO. The author touches on all areas related to SEO, not always in great detail which is understandable as some topics could warrant their own book but he covers enough of each to give you a thorough understanding. Please be advised that all the code script examples are opensource based, php primarily. If you are a ASP.NET, C# app builder they won't help you that much but the general idea is communicated through the examples which you can figure out in your language of choice. A must book for your SEO collection.

As a new entrepreneur in e-commerce, I found this book an excellent and thorough guide to SEO. The book has some very technical information and coding tips combined with some helpful information about marketing. Even though I am not a coder, it was important for me to get a basic understanding of the technical "musts" for my site. This book gave me that understanding and pointed me in the direction of other information to pursue. Very well written and easy to read and understand - even if you're not a techie.

If you are a web developer don't buy this book. The Art of SEO is what you want as a developer and designer. The book is almost worth it for the perl scripts that he offers for free, but they're available on his website, and aren't something you couldn't have picked up on your own. If you're a webmaster or business guru, then this book will take you as far as you can go without having to have specialized knowledge about the internet. It's a very good, general overview of SEO, but it falls short on practical tactics and the the technical aspects of how robots read websites, how new factors are constantly emerging, and how developers should be on the lead edge of defining optimization. It's section on mod_rewrite is very weak indeed.If you're a web developer and/or designer and this book is new information to you, then you need to get clued up ASAP. This book is a lot of common sense spelled out in detail. It's a great introduction to SEO, but if you're a seasoned web developer there is little in the way of new information. Take my review with a grain of salt. I'm someone who believes books should offer something the internet could never give you. If that's not how you think, then this book may be worth it for you, as it is a good introduction to every aspect of SEO. If you choose to see this book as a central location that collates common sense in one place, then it's more of a 4 or 5 star book.
