His book has short segments that each cover a different topic. It is a great source to use to show children all the different jobs and why they are all important (from careers like chopping down trees to making electricity!). Educational and fun!

I read this book to my 20 month old daughter when visiting a friend's house and that must have been the abridged version because, contrary to some of the lower votes and conspiracy theorists, this reprint (as of July 2015) has all of the stories listed, including the policeman, the homemaker, the pilot, etc. that may have been left out of previous reprints. So, order with the knowledge that you are getting the full experience!That said, I would have ordered it for her even if it had been abridged as the stories and images are just wonderful, if a bit dated in parts, and there is so much there for her to discover and enjoy. Cannot recommend the book highly enough!

They finally re-released the original unabridged version!!! This is the exact book I had as a kid over 30 years ago. By the time I started high school my parents had given away all of the children's books I loved, I suppose not thinking that I might want them for my own children some day. Anyhow, when my oldest child was first born I went looking for a bunch of the old books I was so fond of back in the day and this was one of the ones I bought on Amazon. However, the one I bought about 5 years ago turned out to be an abridged version with many of the stories missing. I was NOT happy about that, and if you look at so many of the reviews for that version you'll see I'm not alone. Apparently Amazon (or Golden Books) took notice of all the bad reviews and complaints regarding the abridged version and opted to do the right thing and release the book once again in its original form. Please keep in mind that this is the original edition that so many people like me remember from their own childhood and thus is not up to date by todays "PC" standards. I for one am happy about that because I don't feel that old works should be updated to meet current culture, they are history and should be left as such. Buy contemporary books if you want them to contain contemporary culture. If this book had actually been written in 2015, I could understand many of the complaints about it that you'll see on so many of the negative reviews, but it wasn't written in 2015, it was written in 1968, so if you don't want your kids to know what life was like back in 1968, then avoid this book--in which case there are thousands upon thousands of other classic works of literature that you'll also have to avoid as well, so be careful! Of course, you could just do the smart thing and educate your child when they ask why things are shown the way they are in this book and explain why things are different now.

YES! This 2015 edition IS unabridged! At last I own an affordable copy of the complete What Do People Do All Day? for my small children to grow up with! Thank you, thank you publishers! I will be buying more for gifts!

A great book for explaining "how things work" in a simple way for kids! A must have for the inquisitive kid and covers a range of jobs from trees and where we get paper, how we get bread, doctors/nurses/babies, and more. A good primer for money and how worker make it, buy things with it and how other merchants use money from sales to continue to create an economy.

A favorite young children's book that they still enjoy when they are older. It's been a long time since I read this book to my son and daughter. My daughter is 9 now and still looks at the pictures and reads it herself. Lots of other books were labeled "baby books " to give away but this one stays on her shelf. Richard Scarry's stories and characters are classics of childhood. His genus was taking complicated issues, like the inner workings of a house, and illustrating it so a five year old could understand a furnace, fuel tank, hot water heater, and cold air return. In addition to building a house there are pages on Tom Sawyer's Sawmill, Foolscap's Paper Company, a train trip, ship voyage and bread making in Able Baker Charlie's oven. When my son was younger his favorite story and pictures explained building a new road.

Putting down a J Moeller is really difficult.you can see many reviews of the book,etc. I much prefer to tell you that Moeller is one of the 5 Best epic fantasy writers,ever! This is really a tale that revolves around 2 incredible characters. Ridmark Arban & Calliende ,the Keeper. Book 13 continues this spectacular tale & we should all look forward to the last two books in this series.this tale is best read & appreciated in read in sequence!

Ridmark and his companions are victorious against the Enlightened and have lifted the siege of Tarlion. Warrants Carhaine has been defeated and now Ridmark, Calliande and everyone else can focus on defeating the Frostborn. Who will become the Dragon knight, will it become Ridmark and will he join with the burning woman who I believe is the spirit of a long ago Dragon. I look forward to the next book and see how the story ends and what happens to everyone.

So many series books Ive read seem to run out of steam or loose focus as the extended story unfolds. Jonathan Moeller seems to have avoided this problem completely. In his Author Notes he says he plotted out the series years ago, the books seem to bear that out as they seem to get better as the conclusions of the epic tale approaches. This book is leaner and yet still has all the details necessary for a great read. Great battles and character development as well. Said it before and I'll say it again, what more could you ask for?

The author's saga is beginning of the end is taking shape, and the hero's are proving worth it. As the usurper leads his forces against the seat of the empire, the forces of light close in their foe. The excitement and drama scale towards the apex. And who is calling for Ridmark to "come burn with me" and who is the knight with the sword across his lap? We all await the last two novels in this wondrous saga.

Excalibur feels like the next milestone step in the saga. the first one being the World Gate. It offers us a great conclusion to the civil war subplot and a really cool final battle, with fog of war effects shown in a realistic way. Great showdown with the Incarnate at the end. We also get walls. lots of lots of walls.

This is the final published book of the series, with the author indicating that there will be two more. I have been binge reading since I picked up the first four books and have been engaged in the lives of the characters throughout. I like the twists and turns in the story and the characters have unique perspectives that make the story engaging. I cannot wait for the last two books.

I've read a lot of these books so far, and the only good quality is the world the author created. It is interesting and he always has more to add. The downside is almost everything else. The plot is ok, but with revision it could be much better. As it is, it's fairly predictable. The author also makes a horrendous amount of grammatical mistakes. I honestly don't know how they all get through, because many of them should be caught by spell check...

The fight for the rule of the rightful king of Andohaim ! Ridmark Arban and Calliande the Keeper of Andohaim fight for their lives against the Incariel. Great story telling.. They are finally showing and professing their love for each other.

Well, I can write this from the perspective of a four-time Ironman Hawaii finisher and a total of seven Ironman finishes. First in 1998 last in 2007. I had the great honor and experience to know Bob Babbit as well, as others such as Graham Fraser, and trained with the Multi-Sports instructors such as Paula-Newby Fraser, Scott Tinley, Heather Fuhr, John Howard, and others. I also had the honor of meeting and training with as participants in a camp with John and Judy Collins. The reason I bring all this up as I can attest that what Bob Babbit said, and how he said it is absolutely and honestly the truth as to how this amazing endurance event has evolved. No one could have done this except Bob.From an older guy like me, average athlete, starting at the age of 58 to the professionals, always believe you can do this. And believe me "Anything is Possible" To all you out there, read this amazing book and get excited as I did when I say my first IM Hawaii in 1996. I had tears in my eyes and said to myself, I have to do this. And I did! Starting with sprint, then Olympic, then Half Ironman then IM! The journey was amazing and meeting so many wonderful, helpful and supportive people in the Triathlon family. Forever grateful for the experience as it shaped my life as it can yours.
