Please understand that I am not reviewing Miss Austen's works but rather this particular presentation of her books.The set is lovely to look at and will look nice on a shelf or desk just because they are pretty. The binding is good and I really like it that each book has a ribbon marker so I won't be always misplacing my bookmarker!As many have stated, it is a very big shame that the stickers are on the back of each book. I am assuming that maybe because mine came in the winter months the sticker came off fairly easily, leaving no sticky residue. But it is obvious on every book that there was a sticker. Some show a dark mark the size and shape of the sticker. But most of them took off some of the ink on the beautiful covers when the sticker came off. So you have a mark and some of the ink is missing on many of them. This needs to be rectified. ( I have posted photos of the backs of some of the books.)The only other complaint I have at this point is that the case is just a tad too tight. Just a couple of centimeters added to the width and height would make it so much easier to remove a book from the case. As it is now, I have to turn the box over and dump the books out enough so that I can grasp the spine of the one I want to pull it out. I can only see this being more of a problem in the future as books tend to expand when read.I am interested in some of the other sets they offer, but right now would hesitate to spend that much money considering the flaws I mentioned.

I gave it four stars because it was a shrink wrapped box set, but each book had a price sticker on it. This wouldn't be a problem except that when removing the stickers, they took off the pink coloring on the book cover. I got these because the covers are beautiful, so it made me mad that a few of them are ruined now.

Beautiful set with everything she wrote. I'm enjoying the volumes very much. I wish those stupid stickers hadn't been on the backs of the books, though, because when you take them off they ruin some of the cover design and leave a mark where they were taken from.

If you want to preserve classics and like to read with a cup of a tea and a cozy chair, these are for you. Simple cloth binding is enhanced with vintage-style decoration. Thick paper and good, easy to read print. These books are comfortable to read, look great on the shelf.

This set is absolutely stunning and well worth the money. I fell in love as soon as I opened the box. For Jane Austen lovers and pretty edition book lovers, this set is a must.

Beautiful penguin editions, real books, sewn not glued, archival type paper, very nice intros to each book, fabric over paper covers. Glorious to read Jane from such a beautifully designed book. Copious footnotes and information about the history of each books genesis from her childhood stories to publications and additional editions.

Review for Jane Austen: The Complete Novels Kindle edition: The kindle version of this collection is not what the description says. It is missing the novel Persuasion. It was difficult even to figure out it was missing because there is no overall table of contents you have to scroll through the chapters list to get to the different works. I also tried searching for the characters' names with no luck. The reviews seem to be for a mix of of many different items: physical books, the collections, single books, kindle versions etc. or people just reviewing the works themselves causing a undeserving and misleading high rating. I haven't had a chance to read it all yet but I spot checked Pride and Prejudice with my physical copy and it seemed accurate. Still a good price for what was included but not what I should have been getting.

I'm re-reading most of these novels while others are new to me. But they are all a delight. Austen does more with dialogue in defining characters than other authors can do with long descriptions. What an ear! There are no great tragedies, like in the Brontes' novels, but the lives of these characters have very human joys and heartbreaks that can resonate in any era. Austen was definitely a woman of her time, yet she understood the ins and outs of the middle class better than any other author of any century. Darcy and Elizabeth are no Heathcliff and Catherine, and I'm very glad of it. Their troubles stem from human frailties and interference, which 'most anyone who has had any kind of relationship can understand and relate to. These are novels to savor.

I went to Ecuador for about a month. It was accurate, informative and well used. It is in good condition after being continually stuffed into my bag and read almost every other day. I would have liked a bit more of current history, and an idea of the importance of the dates that so many roads are named after. I learned a bit of what President Rafael Correa has done and it has made an amazingly productive society and country.The book guided me well and has excellent tips and suggestions of places of interest.Well done! I will get another when I visit another country.

There aren't many travel books on Ecuador, and after researching the competition, this is the winner. It gives a good range of information that a traveler will need, and its recommendations closely align with the current websites. I won't have access to wifi on most of our adventures in Ecuador so I will need an actual book. We're packing light, and this is the only guide book we're taking. .

Love Lonely Planet guides in general. This one on Ecuador and the Galapagos does not disappoint! Fairly up to the date with the exception of the coastal areas. Salinas for example is Ecuador's version of South Beach, and the guide plays it down quite a bit as a beach haven. Maybe it was just my perception, I was looking for a littlish beach town...not a skyscraper esplanade.The Galpapgos info and Quito info was right on track tho! So a good resource..

I own a lot of the LP books. I tend to have trust issues with them but as a reference during my world wanderings, they are better than nothing. The Ecuador issue however leaves out more than it includes. Unless you're traveling to only the biggest towns and tourist destinations, the book just ignores everything else. I'm not asking for The Milepost with every trash can listed, but countless towns and villages get no mention at all.

I've lived in Ecuador for about six months now, and brought this book with me. I have to say, it's extremely inaccurate in its details. Details it gives about bus times and prices and ferry schedules are often incomplete or straight up wrong. It also doesn't include a lot of the more well-known and interesting things about some of the towns here. I've had good luck with Lonely Planet in the past, but this guide is no good.

Since Eyewitness Guides doesn't do Ecuador and the Galapagos, I was forced to fall back on Lonely Planet. Some useful information, but a lot of garbage neither desired or practical. OK, but not great.

Many places I looked for where neither in the Index, nor mentioned in the book. Ecuador being such a small country, I hoped to find more details.I travel with Lonly Planet every where, but this time I have to add another source of information as well.Kind regardsKarin Leszinski

Of the travel books that I have read for Ecuador this is the one I keep coming back to. Lonely Planet has cultural insights that I personally appreciate.The references to things like lodging and restaurants were up to date. The descriptions were not so much recommendations as descriptions of choices that you can make decisions from.

I purchased the Give Thanks journal after first reading the author’s book “The Gratitude Jar.” I was inspired by the author’s message of living with gratitude each day and found surprising success in my initial gratitude practice. It was certainly easier on some days than others but I was comforted and encouraged by the her conversational tone and message that there was no one right way to bring gratitude into your life. Reading “The Gratitude Jar” felt like having a conversation with my best friend over a cup of tea. And I have found the same in this companion journal.While this book is a perfect extension to the author’s original work, it can certainly stand on its own. I am currently in the middle of my first 30-day journaling cycle since purchasing this book and have already experienced a positive change in mindset. My brother and I decided to work through these 30 days together focusing on work and balance in our lives. Like many people we have challenging jobs that can generate a lot of stress and self-doubt at times. Because we live far apart we often call one another to vent and clear our heads after a particularly challenging day. We decided to work through the first 30 days of our journal at the same time and to call one another for a few minutes each day to share our gratitudes. Even though we are still very much in the middle of this process, we have each seen positive changes in our outlook already. I have found that in changing my mindset to looking for something to be grateful for each day I see the day in a different way. Instead of focusing on the challenges or frustrations of the day, I find myself sifting past them to look for the parts of the day that were successful. It can be so easy to fall into a negative view of a situation and then get stuck focusing only on the things that will further that view. But by instead intentionally focusing more on positive moments, events or interactions I find myself starting each day with a clearer mind. My brother has experienced a similar effect. And the added bonus of a daily check in to review our gratitude entries has given us something special to look forward to and to share together.I have ordered several copies of this journal as gifts for friends and family this holiday season. And I look forward to hearing their stories as they go on their own journeys with gratitude. I highly recommend this journal. Whether you work through it individually or with a friend/loved one, I think you will be very happy with the joy it brings to your life!

This journal is strikingly beautiful and thoughtfully written. Whenever I feel the creeping thoughts of anxiety or depression, I know it’s time to grab my journal and choose a gratitude practice. Every. Single. Time I have used one of the practices in this book, I felt better, attracted tons of positive outcomes to me, and felt the magic back in my life.

I purchased this journal after hearing Josie speak, and now it is part of our nightly ritual with our family. My children love to think about what they are grateful for, and are really proud of the lists they make each day. The Give Thanks journal has inspired such wonderful conversations in our house about gratitude. It is the perfect gift, too!
