While not always agreeing with the Bush politics I've always admired and respected this family. This is a heart warming book that made me laugh and cry and gives this senior citizen hope for then future. I am hopeful that others will read this with an open mind and heart. There is much to learn here particularly with the country so divided about unconditional love and acceptance despite our differences.

This book is SO funny and so hopeful and so full of love! What a fun, wild and wonderful read. They are so honest and real. They share these incredible stories about their family and their relationships. I was really craving a book that would make me feel good and this book is that!! I love these girls and I can't believe what beautiful writers they are.

I have never written an amazon review before but felt compelled to share that this is such a joyful and enjoyable read! This is not a book about politics, it is a book about sisters and special bonds.

This is such a hopeful yet funny book. I think the stories are so heartfelt too. Jenna is such an authentic person....nothing phony about her. I love how they tell such great stories about their parents & grandparents....could not put this book down....not one boring page!

It was interesting geting to learn about a very privileged life that few can experience. Being in the spotlight is a very difficult life and they had extraordinary parents and grandparents that kept them grounded. The support and caring of their extended family is an unusual blessing. The content seemed controlled with no real depth, but who would want to air problems to the public.These two young women survived difficulties and took advantage of their opportunities, to become caring, contributing members of society.Any woman reader without a sister will envy what Jenna and Barbara have in their relationship. I applaud their candor in what they did write.This is a very “light read” when there is an occasion for that type book.

I bought this as a kindle book on a discount site. Did not vote for Bush. Oddly , started reading it as an escape from current political situation. Enjoyable read. First of all, fun to hear abt what it can be like to be a fraternal twin with all the comparisons that go on. But, also, the fun supportive parts. Secondly, interesting to read abt what is what like to be a college student with a secret service detail. And what 9/11 was like for dau of President. Lastly, liked hearing more abt Geo W. Esp touched by the descriptions of his paintings of wounded warriors and the angst he felt abt the war. I was never sure if he truly understood all the loss that would be involved when he made the decision to go to war. Appears he did later for sure. So, gave me a more complex picture of Bush 2.

This is a great book. I actually read this book in 2 days. The girls are so honest and funny! I don't know how you could not respect these girls and the Bush family. Such a heartwarming book...Thank you Jenna & Barbara~!

The Five Stars are because I read this on a cold Saturday afternoon when it was sleeting out and this book put some warmth back into my soul. It tells of the love and bond between the Bush twins and their family. It is also about growing up in the public eye, which they did with dignity. I read their mothers book, and these Bush women are pretty good writers for gals not in the business. Obviously the sisters led interesting lives of privilege, but they seem to have retained humor, kindness and morality. Very enjoyable.

ADORABLE!!!! What a cute YA story. I found this under Amazon's "other books you might like" suggestions and bought it on a whim. So glad I did! I loved every second of it."Adorkable" Sally Spitz has a problem...she's never had a real boyfriend and her BFF and mom are constantly setting her up on blind dates. Disastrous ones, and she's DONE. So she enlists the help of her childhood best friend and soccer star/golden boy, Becks, to keep them off her case. He becomes her fake boyfriend and the swoon-worthy, sigh-inducing moments begin...oh it was a sweet, fun ride!I have three boys and we're done...but let's just say if we had a fourth boy, Becks would be in the running for his name. ;) Loved him! And Sal was adorable...both were just such likable, well-written characters.I will definitely keep my eye out for hopefully more stories from the author. Loved her style of writing. I'm so surprised this is a debut...it read like it was written by a well-seasoned author!If you're a fan of YA, do yourself a favor and read this one!! Just be prepared for a book hangover... ;)

I honestly can't believe Adorkable is Cookie O'Gorman's début novel. Seriously? The writing was brilliant. It didn't feel like a début at all! It may have bordered on slighty corny at times, but it was so much fun I didn't care. Plus, it had my most favorite relationship trope ever: best friends to lovers (or best friends to dating because there's no lovers in this YA novel).I absolutely adored the story and the main characters. Sally was this geeky girl who didn't mind not being the most beautiful or popular girl in the room. She kept her eye on the future and what she wanted. Her only little insecurity was the crush she had on her best friend, Becks. She didn't think he would ever like her as more than a friend, so he seemed like the safest choice as her fake boyfriend. Sally just didn't think the "pretending" would be so hard or make her want him even more.Becks was the most popular and gorgeous guy in school. He could (and maybe did) have any girl of his choice, but he was totally willing to help Sally out. Becks had his own reasoning for being Sally's fake boyfriend, but he truly would have done anything for her. He wasn't just some popular athlete, he was a good guy and an amazing friend.As for the other characters in the story...There was one I have to talk about. I couldn't stand Sally's other best friend, Hooker. I had major problems with her. She wasn't a good friend at all. She obviously didn't respect Sally's thoughts or believe in her enough to allow Sally to find a boyfriend on her own -- if she wanted one. I get that Hooker wanted Sally to be happy, but she had a really poor way of showing it. She made me so mad! But without her, the story wouldn't have been quite as funny. Some of those dates...Adorkable was everything I love in a YA Contemporary Romance. It was an upbeat, funny and fast-paced read. I read it in one evening -- it was that good! It kept me smiling from beginning to end. If you enjoy YA contemporary romances, you should definitely check out this book. Cookie O'Gorman will be going on my YA must read list with Kasie West, Miranda Kenneally, Sarah Dessen and Ali Novak. I'm going to be keeping my eye out for her next release. I don't want to miss it!

The Good:I enjoyed the characters a lot. Their families and their history were believable and rich. Her use of details was excellent. Also, I am not bilingual, but I kind of loved that when she got upset she'd unknowingly rant in German.I enjoyed all the geek references--Harry Potter and Star Wars reigned supreme, Star Trek and X-men came in a close second, and a LOTR reference was thrown in for good measure (though, honestly, she seemed more of a movie geek than anything--how else can you explain Tombstone???).The feeling of the story was light and cute and hit a few swoon-worthy moments.The Not-So-Good:Hot Girl Thinks She's Ugly trope--Honestly, this one doesn't usually bother me because I relate to self confidence issues, but the way she was treated by everyone was so inconsistent that I couldn't figure out what was truth.The Girl Next Door and the All-American Boy and their seemingly willful Obliviousness to Love--I get it. Really I do. The I Don't Want To Ruin The Friendship thing is real, but they are SO oblivious it feels like it's stretching my suspension of disbelief just a tad too far.The movement from her never having a boyfriend/never kissing a guy/etc to making out hot and heavy with one didn't have enough progression.Missed opportunities and plot contrivances--There were moments when the plot felt very forced making some of the dialog feel forced. There were definitely a few moments where she hit it out of the park, but then there were a bunch where I was left wanting more.Overall:It was fun. I did enjoy it. The two of them are super cute and made me smile. The premise was great, and it scratched the lighthearted romcom itch, but I really wanted to rewrite it so that it hit all the notes in a way that felt natural.

I originally purchased this cookbook for my Dad, who is a Type II Diabetic and normally doesn't cook much since Mom died. I flipped through it and tagged at least 15 different recipes that I wanted to try for myself. This is a great all around cookbook for several reasons:* all of the recipes use nutritious, natural foods that are readily available* most of the recipes call for only a few ingredients, so even those new to cooking will be successful* the basic dishes are done in no time and can be frozen* the recipes can be easily doubled or tripled* it offers a delicious variety that are delightful and satisfyingI'm a professional firefighter/paramedic and I can tell you from experience that Type II Diabetes is in fact, becoming an epidemic. Firefighters have to watch what we eat as well, which is not always easy, because we need it to be fast, filling and able to withstand being reheated over and over again (since mealtime is usually interrupted). High fat, high salt and high cholesterol may be tasty, but they'll kill you. This book offers wonderful recipes that fit the bill and I should know - I've made them with fantastic results!

I really like this book. People with diabetes are usually just as busy as anyone else, and have limited time to prepare meals. The special diet needed to control diabetes pretty much eliminates "fast food" restaurants, which means more - and sometimes different - home-cooked meals. This author clearly understands this and addresses it effectively. She gives good tips on timesaving techniques, including planning your menus and recipes before shopping so that you have what you'll need on hand.In fact, it's a good book for anyone who wants to maintain a good, healthy diet when time is at a premium.This is certainly the first book I would recommend to anyone who has diabetes.

Good, easy to prepare meals with easy to find ingredients. I like the fact that they require little time to prepare as they fit in will with a busy lifestyle.

This is a very good book. Recently diagnosed as a type 2 diabetic. I have learned a lot about how to prepare meals from this book. Well work the purchase. I would recommend anyone facing this disease to start by reading this book right away. Very helpful.

I got this book for my mom after she suffered a mild stroke. She loves cooking and has tons of cookbooks but after her stroke she's been having a hard time seeing, and having the energy to find and make a recipe from her many books.This makes cooking for her a lot easier because it doesn't take a long time to make the recipes in here and it's healthier than what she was eating before the stroke. She's a lot better now and completely independent but this book is a great go-to guide for a quick, healthy meal.

If you're buying this for you mum or dad (70+ years old), it might not be the right book. Too many ingredients and special items to try and find. My mum complained that she didn't know what half the stuff was or where to find it.

This is a wonderful cookbook with fast results in a half hour. If one remembers 15 grams of carbs equals 1 choice, and you can have 15-17 choices per day, this is the cookbook for you! Serving sizes are appropriate and very filling. Nice job!

This is an OK cookbook. It has some useful information about sugar levels and carbs. I found six recipes that I can use regularly. Begin a visual person I would have appreciated pictures of the finished products. Also, I don't keep some of the ingredients used in stock. But I am I am by no means a fancy cook.

As a chronic insomniac, I was excited to read something that might offer new solutions. So I took the test and came out as a Dolphin, which seemed a perfect fit at first, since I am high strung and stay up at nights ruminating. But when I read further, lots of the what he said about dolphin didn't fit at all. I love to eat, for example (I've never forgotten a meal in my life, and sure wish I had that wiry thin body he talked about!). And far from getting a burst of evening energy, I generally feel so exhausted after 8pm I can barely string words together. So I seem to be hungry like a bear, high-strung like a dolphin, and rise early like a lion. What the heck am I? A Dol-bear-ion?I had hoped buying the book would clear up for me what type I am, but it only further confounded me. And the advice for each type is wildly conflicting. Should I exercise in the morning like a Dolphin, or save it for afternoon, like a Lion, to give me more evening pep? Should I force myself to stay up till midnight (which would probably make me ill, is my guess), or go to bed with the sun? The advice conflicts so much that it only works if you fit neatly into one group or another.This book clearly seems to be working for lots of people, but I'd recommend taking the online quiz before you buy it, and then reading through the descriptions of each of the types, first. If you find yourself to be a hybrid like me, you might as well skip the purchase and save your money.EDITED TO ADD:After finishing the book, there are a few pieces of advice that apply to any chronotype, that I wanted to share for those who feel, like me, that they don't fit into a specific type:The first is to delay coffee until a couple of hours after awakening. According to the author, drinking caffeine immediately upon waking is a waste. For all types it's better to wait until you get an energy lull closer to mid-morning. On the other hand, no type should drink caffeine within eight hours of wanting to go to sleep, so don't wait too long. And limit yourself to one or two cups a day.Second, no type should sleep in on the weekends. He's very firm about this. For all types, it's better to lose a bit of sleep on the weekends (if you're staying out late and socializing) then to sleep in and wind up with "social jetlag" which will throw off your entire week. The most anyone should sleep in is an extra 30-45 minutes.Finally, for all types, use sunshine, exercise, protein, and cold showers when you want to wake yourself up or give yourself some extra pep. Then use warm baths, meditation, stretching, and carbs when you want the opposite, to be winding down and preparing for sleep. So, if you have trouble waking up in the morning, start out with some push ups (or whatever) followed by a cold shower, a walk outside, and a plate of eggs. If you get tired too early in the evenings and want to be able to stay up later, then use those things in the late afternoon. Conversely, if you are too alert in the evenings and have trouble falling asleep, then eat some carbs, stretch, meditate, and have a warm bath at or after dinner time.That advice all seems pretty sound to me and it's the advice I'm taking from the book and applying, despite feeling like I don't fit neatly into a chronotype. He also has a chapter on adjusting to jet lag that some might find helpful.Good luck everyone!

By understanding the critical combination of hormone production and energy you can time the best time of the day to do everything.After taking the quiz, I found out I was a bear chronotype. I've begun using the timing suggestions for when to sleep and wake up and when to be most effective in my work and so far, I've woken up more refreshed every day. It did require that I make a change to when I went to bed and got up. There is a formula for determining your best time to sleep based on your chronotype. I also moved as much of my work as I could that required strong problem solving into different areas of the day and it has made a significant difference in my ability to focus.Each chapter focuses on a specific topic like when to exercise, when to have sex, when to focus on creative efforts, or when to sleep and breaks the chapter down for your chronotype. I like the specificity of each section for the chronotype. After a brief introduction to the topic of each chapter you can dig into what is relevant to you. It is important to read your spouse or partner's chronotype as well to better understand their daily patterns so that you can maximize or improve your interactions with them. I was surprised to find out that my chronotype should have sex on Saturday mornings!I like this book because it is supported by evidence based studies. The title might make you think that it is based on pop psychology or made up idees, it is not. While very easy and fun to read, it brings serious science to bear and provides you with a great jumping off point if you want to dig into the research. I also like all the additional resources and video explanations on the authors website, he gives you more examples, details and exercises that you can do to become more efficient at maximizing your personal chronotype.While I got an early review copy of the book, I found it so intriguing that I bought it for my employees and close family members. I really feel like this is a book that everyone needs to read to finally understand how and when to sleep and how to properly time their day to reach maximum effectiveness throughout the day.
