So, okay, this is Book Three that I’ve read in the series. I like how Patchen carries her characters through into each successive novel. However, some patterns have emerged- like people in trouble refusing help, and nobody new getting any closer to a believing faith. Samantha is alone in all 3 books, even though this is pegged as Christian Fiction and the author’s note declares her own faith. This story is less suspense and more drama than the first two in “Hidden Truth” series. Sam’s revealed agoraphobia as well as the main storyline of a drug-addicted teen and his desperate dad push the suspense to the background. The author writes from experience, and it is agonizing for a loved one to be held captive and not want to escape it. However, it seemed like the dad made too many excuses for his son, and the “best friend” who is his drug dealer gets off scot free. Because he’s “Sorry and won’t do it again”.Most readers with believing faith are looking for well written and clean fiction, both of which are fulfilled in Patchen’s series. Formulas and requisite salvations are not necessary, but most characters in these books speak their doubts of God’s existence.

Samantha Messenger is the owner of several rental cabins on Clearwater Lake , New Hampshire. She suffers from a anxiety disorder that keeps her from going outside her town . She has panic attacks so she never leaves her small town. She suffered a traumatic experience in college and now this has cause her anxiety . She makes a life for herself. She has many friends and her business to keep her busy and happy. Last year she met an FBI agent who was helping with a case in her home town and through that they became friends and have kept in touch. One day out of the blue Garrison Kopp calls her needing her help . He needs a place to stay for a few days and naturally Sam wants to help him so she offers him and his son a place to stay for a few days. They will stay in one of her rental cabins. Garrison and his son Aiden have some problems to work out. Can Sam help Garrison? What problems are Garrison and his son bringing to her quiet little town? Garrison Kopp is a former FBI who helped solved a crime a while back on Clearwater Lake. He met and befriended a woman named Sam . Now he needs her help. His son Aiden overdosed on some really bad drugs and he needs to get Aiden away from that environment and dry him out. He goes to Clearwater Lake to stay in one of Sam's cabins. He is now an forensic accountant and he has no idea how to detox is son and keep him clean . All he knows is that he has to get him out of town and away from the drugs and Aiden's friends. Garrison has no idea that trouble will follow them and made things even more difficult . Can Garrison get Aiden clean and keep him that way? What kind of trouble is Aiden really in and how will he deal with it? This is book 3 in the hidden truths series and can be read as a stand along however I recommend reading them all in order because the characters appear in the others as well. This book has anxiety disorders, broken marriages, killers and drugs as a back drop. This book deals with the difficult subject of drug addiction and how if affects everyone involved . There is also a mystery about a missing package and the trouble that with the package. I love this book The author has had to deal with drug addiction in family and she has a first hand look at how it affects the families involved .She did a fantastic job in this book. I recommend all the books in this series. This book also deals with anxiety disorders and how they can cripple someone's life if they allow it. There is a love story as well but it is the main focus of the story . It also talks about ones faith and how it can get a person through anything This is a clean ,Christian book. Loved it.

Teenage drug dealing, addiction, sociopathic killers, agoraphobia, rehab, and sober living! Book 3 of 3 deals with so many tough issues! The drug addicted teen, Aiden, is Garrison Kopp's son. Aiden's mother, divorced from Garrison, is an addict. Garrison, former FBI Agent, now does forensic accounting so he can be home more for Aiden. It's not helping; Aiden is sullen, manipulative, mendacious, slovenly, and addicted to oxy.Aiden's addiction is only the tip of the iceberg in this complex storyline. The character development is superb; the bad guys are wicked and the "normal" people are really likable. This author's writing style is impressive and wonderfully descriptive. "Its good to hit bottom. That's where the solid ground is."Each book in the series stands alone well with no cliffhanger, but the stories are connected by the characters who know each other. While dealing with difficult issues, the storyline is rich with hope and the love of God. The suspense is scary, the love story is heartwarming! You won't want to miss this inevitably feel-good read!

Robin Patchen is a great writer of Christian suspense and romance. This book is about a father, Garrison Kopp, who decides he needs to do something drastic to get his son’s attention, and help him get off of the drugs he is taking, which were gradually stealing his son’s life. He calls a friend, Samantha, (who he wants to get better acquainted with) and asks if she has a cabin available; then he takes his son, Adrian, out of state, reducing contact with and calls to his friends. An additional plot weaves in and out of this, involving others in a potentially deadly situation. This book is one that is difficult to stop reading—you will likely be so wrapped up in the story, you won’t want to stop reading! Be sure to get a copy, and find out, for yourself. You won’t be sorry!

Not even the strongest people can survive without at least some help from others, but choosing to be vulnerable enough to ask is a challenge. This struggle is a recurring theme in this fast-paced, heartfelt novel.Garrison is a loving father trying to save his adolescent son from substance abuse. To further complicate things, he has to confront his growing feelings for Sam, a woman facing demons and struggles of her own. When a dangerous situation arrives to threaten them, Garrison and Sam must learn to trust God, friends, and one another to endure. With vivid, relatable characters, drama, suspense, and inspirational themes about faith and love, Generous Lies keeps the reader engaged on multiple levels. I highly recommend this book. Just be prepared to want to read it all in one sitting!
